What to look for in web hosting companies?

With thousands of web hosting companies in the market it can be difficult if not impossible to know which web site hosting companies truly provide an excellent hosting solution at an excellent price. When you have an established domain name with a good web hosting company, you can get reports on your traffic and which of your pages your customers are visiting most often, as well as many other statistics.

Your web host will charge you a fee for monthly service that ranges from $10 or $20 to the more expensive $50.00 per month. Plan to pay between $300 and $500 per year to your web host.

Due to these incidences, I became meticulous in choosing my blog host. Losing your blog is one hell of a nightmare, especially if you already have an established blog i.e. you have already built your readership and obtained page rank.

Currently, I am hosted by WebHostingBuzz, and so far I am contented with their hosting. When I was host-hopping, I considered these things:

1. Price. This is one of the major considerations of a blogger looking for a host provider. Web hosting is like every product - an affordable one is most attractive. B2Evolution.net listed the top recommended budget hosts for the month of February.

2. Technical Support. A good technical support is one of the main reasons why a hosted member sticks to its current host. I usually get irritated when I didn’t get a reply to my support ticket within 24 hours, even if it’s set to “urgent”.
